France is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To do this, the government decided to act on emissions from residential and tertiary buildings by introducing the first energy and environmental regulation: WFA 2020.
The 2020 Environmental Regulations are applicable to the construction sector. It aims to improve the energy performance of homes and reduce their impact on the climate by taking into account greenhouse gas emissions over the entire life cycle of buildings.
This regulation replaces the thermal regulation (RT 2012) and is part of a dynamic to fight against global warming by activating different levers. For example, strengthening the building envelope, promoting renewable energy use, using low-carbon materials with a low carbon footprint.
